Album Info:On Aug 1 2007, the I-35W Mississippi River bridge in downtown Minneapolis suddenly collapsed. While this was covered thoroughly in the news, a little-reported side subject is the ex-Great Northern rail line passing under the north side bridge. Once a passenger mainline hosting the Empire Builder, North Coast Limited, Burlington Zephyrs and C&NW "400" trains, the line is now a stub-ended switching branch serviced by the Minnesota Commercial (MNNR). Several freight cars were parked on a storage track under the bridge that were damaged or destroyed. This album documents the rail-related aftermath of the bridge collapse. Description:  The crushed tank car was actually not touched by the collapse but was damaged years ago due to improper unloading that cause it to "impload". The covered hopper behind the tank also appears untouched.
