Title:  A Yard
Description:  Picture taken from under the 3rd Street Bridge looking west over "A Yard" which was the northbound classification yard of Johnston Yard. A Yard had 30 tracks increasing from left to right in this picture. The power lines in the middle of the yard seperated A16 and A17. This yard survived in this coneiguration until 2008 when the yard was rebuilt as Harrison Yard. This area is still reffered to as A Yard. The building on the left is the A Yard office. Date is approx.

The track with the covered hoppers is a storage track called McMillan storage, the tracks to the right of the train are the southbound main, the pump lead, ?, and the Delta Main. Photo Caption: "Alco C425 #2428, 2500-hp, at Memphis, Tenn." Shown here is Penn Central Railroad engine #2428, a C-425 road switcher built by the American Locomotive Company as PRR number "2428" in February of 1965, rated at 2,500 horsepower, and retained the number "2428" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (819-40).
