Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #4367 is an FP-7A built for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "9867" in August of 1952 and renumbered "4367" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. #1712 is an F7A built for the New York Central Railroad in March of 1952. Porking out its last years in MOW service. This old Pennsy boxcar was still in pretty good shape.1924 design X29 class boxcar. Pennsy also had a 1928 design. All told Pennsy had more than 29,000 of them built. The second most numerous boxcar of it's time qeriod. N.Y.C. had something in the area of 32,000 boxcars built to it's design. In a similar time period. They were the "per dium" boxcar of that time period. |

I meant to jump onto CR 216 to head back to State Road 613 and follow the Fostoria District back toward home, but I accidently stayed of St. Road 29 and went into Findlay. So I grabbed some food at Captain Ds in town. While ordering, I heard NS L74 get a track warrant to proceed from Arcadia to Lima which set up the perfect opportunity to shoot a train by the NKP signals at the diamond with the Toledo Branch in town. Findlay isnt exactly the greatest place to be after dark, but I wasnt sure when Id get an opportunity to do this again. After quite a bit of waiting, the train showed up, utilizing the same power as NS L71 did earlier in the day. Not the greatest shot either but I wasnt expecting much with it being after dark. A great way to cap off a slow, but good day trackside! |

We decided to jump over to Galatea and then head south. We werent totally sure we had missed it yet, but chatter on the NS Fostoria District confirmed that the car had yet to go through the diamond north of Findlay. So, we made a B-Line there. Sure enough, a green signals welcomed us at the diamond, and so did the car. We grabbed some shots of it with the wind turbines in the background to begin our chase. |
