One night on our way west we smacked a car here. The drawbar penetrated the passenger door. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, had slid across the bench seat and sustained 8 broken ribs. He would recover. The twist was that his wife and baby daughter were in the car behind him, trying to get his attention because she saw us coming. You can imagine what could have happened. |

Most often both tracks needed to be switched. 2 or 3 cars in each track sometimes needed to be reversed, as they didn't always need the whole load at that time. Today it's Blue Tip Industrial Park. We used to have to unlock the gate before we could switch. If memory serves, there were 4 tracks in here. (Not my regular beat.) On at least two of them we had to double spot cars. That way the unloaders could unload both cars from the same building door. One of the tracks extended out along the far building and across SR94, aka Main St. |
