The massive main rod and 69" drivers propelled the steam locomotive down hundreds of miles of track. The loco was rebuilt sometime after 1930 with an increase in the wheel diameter to 69 1/2", boiler pressure to 210 psi and the addition of a booster. SLSF 4-8-2 #1526 - St Louis-San Francisco (Frisco) |
Description: |
I had one small part in helping to tell the story of Frisco #1526 when I was contacted by Taylor Larson (right), one of the curators at the Museum of the Great Plains, for permission to post a photo of 1526 after a derailment. The placard below the photo denotes that the photo was originally taken by C.C. Grayson and is now part of my collection. I feel very honored to help tell a small piece of the locomotive's story. |
