Built in 1911 as one of the stops on the Western Maryland's Connellsville Subdivision. station was used uIt is where the Ohiopyle Baptist Church used to sit. It has not seen passenger service since the 1950's when the WMR stopped hauling passengers. It has now been fully renovated to serve as a visitor's center for Ohiopyle State Park and the Great Allegheny Passage-Youghiogheny River Trail. |

A beam and deck girder brige built in 1912 by the Western Maryland Railway as part of its Connellsville Extension. This crosses the beautiful Youghiogheny River at Ferncliff Peninsula, Ohiopyle State Park. Abandoned by the Western Maryland Railway in the mid 70's after the Chessie System merger. In 1999 renovation on this bridge was completed for the Great Allegheny Passage. There was one other WMR bridge in Ohiopyle which was replaced in the early 2000's. |

Autorack train Q261 going west downgrade through Ohiopyle State Park. With the whine of the dynamic brakes I could hear this train coming from several miles away in the river valley. I tried a new camera mode for this one. "Sport mode" seems to work very well for capturing a fast-moving train with no blur. CSX 4008 was rebuilt at Huntington Locomotive Shops as a SD40-3 in 2011. Formerly CSX 8045 and SCL 8045 built in July 1979. |

A GE ES44AC-H helper set rounds the bend at the Route 381 grade crossing in Ohiopyle State Park, catching some of the last sunlight of the evening. CSX 984 was behind this one, as always. I was just about ready to go home when I heard the crossing signals go off, and I made it over to the crossing just in time for a photo. The camera was left on "landscape mode" because I did not have time to change it. I guess it still turned out alright. |
