CB&Q F3 127
Title:  CB&Q F3 127
Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad F3 127 at Fort Worth, Texas on an vnknown date in 1950, photograph by R. S. Plummer, print by Gordon C. Bassett, Chuck Zeiler collection. The print is marked: Probably Fort Worth, c. 1950. For purposes of filing on this site, this locomotive is assumed to be 127A. The four units pictured were considered by the railroad and brotherhoods to be a single locomotive, the cab at the other end was also numbered 127. I believe the units are under load test, based on the external cooliog fans.

Plummer, print by Gordon C. Bassett, Chuck Zeiler collection. This unit became FW&D 9982A on June 1, 1955, and C&S 9952A on October 1, 1955. It eventually made its way to the Illinois Railway Museum. Description:  Built in 1918 by Pullman in Lot #4530 as business car #30, assigned to the Director in February 1928, later unassigned, rebuilt in March 1969 to camera car #30, renumbered in July 1970 to #5009, renumbered again in January 1973 to #73. The conversion to a camera car was done in order to provide film of the different Divisions for locomotive simulator car #5008 (to #70 in 1974), which had been rebuilt (also in 1969) from 31 seat club lounge-news stand-26 seat chair #3179 (P-S, Lot #6734, Plan #7508, 1947). The #5009/#73 was damaged at an unknown date in a switching accident and was subsequently sold or donated to the Kansas City Railroad Museum in Belton, MO, and later moved to the Western Railroaders Hall of Fame & Museum in Cherryvale, KS. Scanned with an Epson V550 from an original Kodachrome 35mm slide.
