Anyway, Union Pacific has switched out one of the two SD-60M units and has now placed UP 1768, an SD-40N on the Logan branch. Here they are parked, idle, on a stub track next to Cafe Sabor (former Logan Station). Although the area is clear of snow in this picture, today when I uploaded the picture all of this place is being slammed in snow. |

The Smithfield Utah train station has found a new life in Logan Utah. The building was moved from its original location and rebuilt here on Logan's Main Street. The new owners then extended the building on the northern side to increase its size, and added a basement. This building is one of three preserved train stations in Logan (the other two being the OSL freight depot, and the current Cafe Sabor Restaurant). The Smithfield Station was a standard UP Hariman era design. Some websites erroneously claim this building was once the Cache Junction station, however local railfans attest to its origins in Smithfield. |
