Diesel power in Norway |
Description: |
In 1981 the first TMe locomotive was delivered to Danish state railway DSB to replace the older MX, MY and MZ. Since the Swedish Nohab no longer produced locomotives, the order went to the German Henschel. Historically, Germany had manufactured diesel-hydraulic locomotives, but the ME, like its Swedish predecessors, went diesel-electric and was a pioneer in its day, being fitted with an asynchronous motor, anti-lock braking system and modern electronics. |
