LN F7Au #835 & LN U23B #2704
Title:  LN F7Au #835 & LN U23B #2704
Description:  Interesting photo by famed Monon/L&N rail fan Gary W. Dolzall. His note on the back states, " "Louisville & Nashville - - #835 their lone F-2 (isnt she the last active F-2 in the U.S.?) sits with a new comer to the L&N - U23B #2704 ex MONON #605 at Earlington shops, Ky. On 9-6-71." The LN F-2 is really rebuilt from powertrain components of destroyed F7A 835 and carbody from ex-ACL F2A 324. Ex-MONON 605 GE, 11/1969, serial #37297

Q502
Title:  Q502
Description:  Q502 (Radnor, TN - Chicago, IL Clearing Yard) rounds the curve into downtown Earlington. Earlington was L & N's major base in the Western Kentucky coal fields until the early 1960's when Atkinson Yard was built in nearby Madisonville. The yard and shops at Earlington were then closed and there is no evidence today of what used to be a major railroad operation.
