Title:  Depot
Description:  Schriever is located on the SUNSET ROUTE 55 miles west of New Orleans. The depot's use as a train order office ended in about 1985, but it still is a functioning railroad structure. It is now owned by the BNSF and is used by Amtrak as a stop for the SUNSET.

Bridges
Title:  Bridges
Description:  Just east of the depot at Schriever, Louisiana the main line of the SUNSET ROUTE crosses over Bayou Terrebonne and under Louisiana Highway 20. The bayou bridge and overhead signal were destroyed on 7 February 1984, when four locomotives and 50 cars on eastbound train HOSBY-HOSOY derailed here. The southbound lanes of the highway bridge ended up on top of the train's second car. Rail service was restored in three days by replacing the bayou bridge with three large culverts. Fixing the highway bridge took a little longer!

SP LAAVT
Title:  SP LAAVT
Description:  Eastbound Espee train LAAVT -- the Los Angeles to Avondale Trailers -- casts its reflection in a pond just west of the Schriever depot, about 45 miles from the end of its trip. The three B30-7's were Cotton Belt 7796 along with Espee 7814 and 7858. Right behind the locomotives was SP 513339, a part of the Espee's pioneering order for 42 articulated double stack container cars 513302-513343 delivered by ACF the previous year.

Title:  SP 5105
Description:  Westbound SP train AVLFM (Avondale-Lafayette) pauses at Schriever with 26 cars. The train's caboose is parked next to the depot, right on the other side of the antenna tower. The Espee only owned 15 B23-7's, so finding one was always nice; and finding one of the front of a train on a sunny day was really special!

Title:  SP (T&NO) Mk-5 745
Description:  Former Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) Mikado 745 and its 4-car exhibit train were stopped on the BNSF (former SP) at Schriever, Louisiana, on the first day of its tour around Louisiana and part of Mississippi. The locomotive was owned by the Louisiana Railway Heritage Trust and had been restored by the Louisiana Steam Train Association.

Title:  UP B23-7 192
Description:  Union Pacific B37-7 192 was on a westbound local at Schriever, Louisiana, and the locomotive’s L-shaped engineer’s windshield identified this as a former Southern Pacific unit. All of the SP’s B-Boats were delivered with L-shaped windshields, but few of them received UP paint. This loco was built as SP 5108 in June 1980, renumbered UP 192 on 31 May 2001 and was rebuilt by Railpower into RP20BD genset UPY 2630 on 1 Mar 2007.
