Description:  Here is the front cover of a three-page cover article entitled "Computers, Dynamics, And Air Brakes Among Safety Features On Speed Runs." It was published originally on the November 1967 issue of "Mutual" magazine. Partial Photo Caption: "Some of the preparations for the high speed runs between New York and Washington are apparent in this photo of the conventional GG-1 pulling train No. 403 past Elk Neck Crossing near Elkton, Md. The photo was snapped last month by Photographer-Claim Agent L.R. Brittinham of Philadelphia." The road number of the Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 electric locomotive pictured here is not recorded.

Description:  New consecutively-numbered Norfolk Southern GEVO units running elephant style under the Old Elk Neck Road overpass on the Northeast Corridor on December 30, 2007 at 10:26 a.m. A close look will show that GE has painted from the walkways down, including the reflective striping and yellow corner handrails for safety. The builder didn't try to be too neat where it stopped painting, as you can see the overspray of black on the walkways and stanchions.
