For when I grabbed this and several other shots the tail end of the train was still out on the main track up in Long Lake. The Luce Line trail bridge over the BNSF/Highway 12 bypass corrior is in the distance. |

It is interesting that the 261 was coupled up to the "Cedar Rapids" for the westbound leg of the Willmar trip. This doubtless was to allow the Amtrak unit to be on the hind end due to having to back up at Minneapolis Junction to gain access to the north leg of the wye there to access the Wayzata Sub. Note the spectators on the Willow Drive bridge at the upper left. Folks sure are well-informed about the 261! Who said people thought trains were boring? |
