As we were coming back from a weekend visiting in Illinois, we caught this at a private crossing after I saw the headlights and yelled at dad and he pulled off the road. This is one of the VERY few northbounds on the Jonesboro Sub., this is the empty New Madrid, MO (AEC) Power Plant. It just met a southbound intermodal. They eased the train forward, but when they got uo the signal, they let 'er rip. |

This is UP Train AASEW 03. This happens to be my first try at a night shot of a freight. It is parked on Bernie Siding. This was about 8 P.M., so it was pitch black. There are literally NO lights to speak of around where the train was sitting, I had dad shine the van headlights on it, and I tried this 16 second exposure, turned out pretty good, I thought. Dad and I were headed back from grocery shopping in Dexter when we noticed it parked here. I wanted to try out a night shot, dad wanted to go on home since we had ice cream, but this didn't take too long and the ice cream is safe and sound! It made www.railpictures.net, even with that pole! I still don't know what was on the 4th car. |

It hauls 1/4 of a mile sections of flexible rail. This SD70M also piloted the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus Train through here back on November 21, 2005. |

UP Train KMNOA 17 headed north at County Line Road. This was the last train I shot with my 5.0 MP Hewlett-Packard Photsmart 945. It experienced an internal software error before this train passed. I purchased a new camera of equal value off ebay, a Kodak Z740. My last camera was a Kodak CX6230. It took over 15,000 images over 16 months. The HP lasted 5 months and took around 1,000 for me. Looks like I will be using my old Kodak until my new one arrives. |

Here we see UP Train AASEW 23 pulling out of Bernie Siding after meeting a northbound intermodal, and the conductor checking out an "Excessive Movement" defect that an employee detected during a roll-by while leaving the crew change. It turned out to be a false alarm and the conductor was trying to hitch a ride to the front of his train. I heard the scanner signal very strong when he finished the northbound's roll-by and then we passed him on the highway and I saw his radio so we went back and got him and took him to the front of his train. He was pretty grateful since it was about a mile walk, and it was already getting hot this morning. Providing most of the smoke was the last unit in the consist, a leased GP38-2. |

The Katy and the Mo-Pac follow UP 4859 on UP Train ZYCHO 19 just south of Bernie. After getting corrective information about their axle count from the UP Omaha Dispatcher, the train could exceed 35 mph, permission they received about this time because they really notched out the throttle here and rode along by another Cotton Field. |
