Although the photo was not labeled with date, location or photographer, the suspension bridge behind identifies this as Springfield, MO. The bridge is still over the yard to this day. Specs - serial #66019, class P-73/6601, 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, engine weight of 312,810 lb, tractive effort of 47,535 lb., scrapped in June 1951.

Description:  Good looking 4-6-0 ten wheeler built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in December of 1907. Since the work numbers were not assigned in order, the serial number is unknown for this loco. The 1400s were never converted to oil burning, although their boilers were superheated by the Frisco Shops in the 1920's. The class was "dismissed from service" between March 1950 and November 1951. Description:  Standing ready to pull a string of passenger cars is Frisco 4-6-0 ten wheeler #1111. Built by ALCo-Schenectady in March of 1907 orginally as Colorado Southern, New Orleans & Pacific #111, it was used entirely on the SLSF. The loco lasted until being scrapped in June of 1951 at the Springfield Yard in Missouri. Description:  Parked in a scrap line is Frisco 2-8-0 #1232. Note it has already lost its headlight but the bell is still in place. Built by Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin predecessor) in October of 1907, the loco remained on the Frisco diagram book through 3/1/1947 before disappearing - assumed scrapped not long after this photo was taken by Arthur B. Johnson. I would imagine this was the last photo ever taken of it. Description:  Sadly, this Alco-Schenectady 4-6-0 ten wheeler built originally as KCFS&M #632 in October of 1905, now sits in the SLSF dead line at the Springfield, MO, yard awaiting the scrapper's torch. During its lifetime, it served the SLSF well, was superheated by the West Springfield Shops in October of 1926 and converted to coal burning in January of 1944.
