CNJ 833 - Central RR of New Jersey
Description:
Here is another view of this sharp looking Pacific. This was a 1928 Baldwin Pacific type locomotive in the G-3 class. It had tall 79" drivers, could develop an impressive boiler pressure of 230 psi for its 26"x28" cylinders and had an engine weight of 326,470 lb. In terms of power, it could apply a tractive effort of 46,841 lb. Date is approximate - no photographer listed.

Public Service Plow at Roseville Car House
Description:
Photographer Richard H Young of Clifton, New Jersey took this shot of Public Service Coordinated Transport plow #5245 sitting at the Roseville Car House, amid a collection of other none revenue cars. There is an unknown sweeper in front of it. To its side is another sweeper, #5190, and behind it is yet another sweeper, #5192. The Roseville Car House was in the Essex Division. Plow #5245 was built by Public Service Railways at their Plank Road Shops in 1921. It survives today at the Shore Line Trolley Museum in Brandford, CT, where it arrived on Jne 27, 2007, after being stored unused in the Newark City Subway for almost 55 years.

Public Service Open Cars
Description:
Photographer Richard H Young of Clifton, New Jersey took this shot of 1915 era and 1917 era open Public Service double trucked trolleys sitting out the cold days of November in Newark, while a more appropriate for the season closed car (I think a 2600 series, maybe) sits under the barn. Built by Public Service, the open cars had 16 benches and were as described, wide open to the elements, and thus, only for summer or spring use.

LV 2-8-0C #815 - Lehigh Valley
Description:
Here is one of the beefier camelbacks that Lehigh Valley used in freight service and yard switching. Built by ALCo-Schenectady in May of 1907, the camelback was superheated later by Baldwin in 1916. After 38 years of service, the loco met the scrapper's torch in August of 1945. Specs - serial #42666, class M-36, 62.5 " drivers, 205 psi boiler pressure, 23x30" cylinders, engine weight of 214,900 lb, tractive effort of 44,245 lb. Unknown photographer.

EL E8 824
Description:
EL E8 824 at Newark, New Jersey, June 1965, exact day unknown and photographer unknown, Chuck Zeiler collection. Built as Erie E8 824 in February 1951 (c/n 12222) on EMD Order 2027A, it retained the Erie road number on the EL, classed as PE-22. It later became CR 4013, was retired in January 1978 and scrapped by Naparano in October 1979. In the background is 'blue coal', that's how it appears on the building to the left, single quote and lower case spelling. I'm not sure if that was a brand name, or if they actuallly sold coal that was a blue color. Someone might leave a comment if they know what 'blue coal' was.

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4899, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata during May of 1940, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and retired in January of 1973 after 33 years of faithful service.
