Welcome to Beaver River |
Description: |
Beaver River has the distintion of being the only town in New York that you can't drive to. The only ways in are by a 9 mile hiking trail, boat across the Stillwater Reservoir or by the railroad (service not yet restored). The vehicles you see here were brought in by barge. Many residents here hold permits to operate Hi-Rail vehicles from Big Moose. |

Description: |
The Norridgevock III is the other establishment in Beaver River. It a nice place with reasonable prices and cold beer. It is unfortunately owned and operated by one of the very active and vocal individuals that is#trying!to get the railroad removed. We waited until we were leaving to mention that we support restoration of rail service. |

The second Beaver River Station |

When the original Bearve river Station burned in 1940, the railroad chose to move and renovate the track department bunk house and turn it into the second station. It was sold before the end of passenger service in the 1960's and moved a sort distance up the road to be used as a camp. |
