Good chase
Title:  Good chase
Description:  OIEL was a hard train to get. Sometimes it ran before dawn in the Tier, so photo ops were limited. Another inhibiting factor was that it would often yard at Gang Mills, and a crew would not be called until much later in the day. I was fortunate on this cold(10 degrees) Saturday morning to catch it just as the light got good, and chase to Gang Mills. Here it is passing the semaphore at MP 259.

MEBU in the haze

Description:  The trees in the northeast throw off a lot of water in the warm weather, making for a haze that hangs over the region most of the summer. MEBU comes around the curve at Chemung looking good, but the hills in the background are almost in a gof.

Title:  Mid day light
Description:  Most of the time, Id catch trains here in the late afternoon, since Id be chasing after work. This is a great afternoon shot, as the train is rolling right into the sun. Middle of the day photos are not nose lit, but are nicely side lit. We see TV 203 in the side light as it comes around the big curve and under the NY 427 overpass.

Description:  As CP took over operation of the D&H, it moved in its own power and operating people, but time was needed for the transition, so NYSW power was still common on many trains, now mixed with CP units. Description:  One of our favorite spots for a photo was at Chemung. It was easy off/easy on if you were driving, as the spot was right off the exit 59 off ramp. Get your shot and go. This NU 1 behind PLM power provided the action, rolling 105 cars west around the big curve, past the old Erie station on the inside of it.
