Oyster Bay train
Title:  Oyster Bay train
Description:  One of the prettier areas on the north shore was Locust Valley on the Oyster Bay Branch. This train has just left the station and is rolling for Mill Neck and the end of the trip at Oyster Bay. The building on the left was once Locust tower, now a substation for the Nassau County PD 6th Precinct.

Elegant station
Title:  Elegant station
Description:  An eastbound Oyster Bay train arrives at the elegant station at Locust Valley, one of the higher end North Shore communities on the branch. The station has a variation on the usual gambrel roof style, with Spanish tile instead of shingles. Also, it has Roman style columns, versus the more typical brick pillars.

Riding in style
Title:  Riding in style
Description:  Not the crew, which has the spartan accommodations of an MP 15 cab, but the riders in the first car, a subscription only parlor car catering to the high rollers of the area immediately around this station, among others. Seen as the sun sets on a late winter day. The structure at right was once Locust tower, controlling the switch and signals there at the end of double track. Now it is a Nassau County PD substation.

Waiting
Title:  Waiting
Description:  An eastbound Oyster Bay train waits at the end of double track for the westbound train to arrive so it can proceed. This view shows the Locust Valley station, as well as the former Locust tower, at the far end of the station platform to the left of the train. It once controlled the switch and signals at the end of double track here, but now is a Nassau County PD substation. The interlocking is remotely controlled from Nassau tower in Mineola.

Coming and going
Title:  Coming and going
Description:  The westbound train from Oyster Bay has arrived, and is making its stop, as the eastbound pulls away in the right distance. At this time, Long Island was about the only place in North America where you could see a pair of FAs meeting.
