UP 11 double bedroom (11DB) sleeper #1601 SUN CAPE, built by AC&F in January 1950 in Lot #3069 to Pullman Plan #9004 as the 12 roomette-4 double bedroom (12RM-4DB) sleeper WESTERN ADVENTURE, pulled from service in January 1965 and rebuilt in September to the Pullman Plan #6009 11DB sleeper SUN CAPE, had #1601 applied in September 1969, was leased to the Auto Train Corporation in late 1971-early 1972, was retained by UP for business and excursion use in 1974, was retired in November 1986, and was sold in 1987 to Mexico's SCD as #736 IZTACCIHUATL, no further disposition info. Retained by UP at the startup of Amtrak, used in excursion and business service until sold in 1987 to SCD as #736 IZTACCIHUATL. Scanned with an Epson V550 from an original Kodachrome 35mm slide. Photographer is unknown. |
