1 of 54 chairs built by the Milwaukee Road between December 1947 and March 1948 as #498-#551, having been ordered in May 1947. 28 cars were delivered as 48 seat chairs, and 26 cars as 52 seat chairs; #520 had 48 seats. MILW later reconfigured 39 cars to 40 seat leg rest chairs, which were renumbered to the #6xx-series in 1956-1957, #520 as #624 in 1957. Sold in 1974 to Amtrak #4010, retired and sold in 1976 to Union Center Venture in St. Louis, later to City of Prineville RY and used on Crooked River Dinner Train (with the name RICHARD BROWNING WRIGHT), then acquired by MRSR. Description:
Built as CP 52 seat chair-16 seat smoker #2290, 1 of 99 such cars (#2200-#2298) built in 1947-1949 as shells by CC&F and NSC and completed by the CP shops through 1950. In 1958, 3 of these cars (#2289-#2291) were reconfigured to 40 seat parlors #6600-#6602 (equipped with galleys). In 1973, CP sold 15 of these cars, including the 3 parlors, to the British Columbia Provincial Museum for use with CP Royal Hudson #2860; the 3 parlors were given FALLS-series names, the #6601 was named BRANDYWINE FALLS. 6 of these cars were later sold to the Mount Rainier Scenic, and the BRANDYWINE FALLS was rebuilt to open air coach #541 CLOPEN.
