Description: |
Coach-bar-lounge 3900 was built by Budd in 1950 as Southern Pacific 48-seat divided coach 2359, with a news stand and a conductor’s desk. It was one of five such cars built for service on the SUNSET LIMITED and was renumbered T&NO 432 in 1951, and then SP 2220 in 1961. Amtrak remodeled it into coach-bar-lounge 3900 with 32 revenue seats in 1973 and renumbered it 3815 in 1976. (approximate month) |

Built in 1921 by Pullman as Louisiana Western Class 60-C-9 coach #832, later T&NO #832, then SP #2170. This car is currently lettered as a chair, rather than a coach; like the #2175, was this car reconfigured from a coach to a chair? This car was donated to CSRM by the Pacific Coast Chapter R&LHS in June 1978. If anyone has info regarding the Lot, Plan, and number of seats, feel free to comment. T&NO Box Car 61072 |
Description: |
Southern Pacific (Texas & New Orleans) 40-foot, 50-ton box car T&NO 61072 was in the Louisville & Nashville’s SEMMES TRACK at Pascagoula, Mississippi on 2 July 1958. This B-50-28 class car had a CAPY of 100,000 pounds, a LD LMT of 124,100 pounds and a LT WT of 46,900 pounds for a gross rail load of 169,000 pounds. It had been built by Pullman-Standard in October 1951 and was one of 1,000 cars in the 60250-61249 series in P-S Lot 8001. Most of these cars were renumbered into the SP 130401-131364 series after the T&NO was merged into the SP on 1 November 1961. |
