CB&Q Class LO-11 183910 |
Description: |
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Class LO-11 183910 at Cicero, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1979, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This car was one of 88 cars built in July 1968 by American Car & Foundry, number series 183900 - 183987. The LO-11's were the shortest Center-Flow hoppers on the Burlington, just 34 feet, 9 inches long inside, 38 feet, 11 inches overall, and rated at 2,970 cubic feet capacity. Built after 1966, the LO-11's had a low-mounted hand brake wheel. They were equipped with four 30-inch loading hatches, two interior compartments, a pair of Keystone gravity discharge outlets, and were painted in a much lighter shade of gray, much lighter than any other Q covered hoppers, almost white. The LO-11's were assigned BN numbers 435900 - 435987. |
