Class CC-5 (CCL-5, CCR-5) wagons originally entered service between 1982 and 1984 and were still being built by 2006. They are open wagons designed to transport coal and to run in drawbar coupled A-B pairs, although at present they are often made up into drawbar coupled sets of three or five. The brake wheel, shunter stirrups and handholds are on the right end of the A side, which is also always the drawbar end on wagons with a knuckle coupler on one end. This brand new set of three are waiting their turn to go to the paint shop at the Transwerk Workshops in Bloemfontein.Number range 63 515 407 to 63 524 198 (this one) and 63 524 260 to 63 533 030, Length over coupling lines per wagon pair 24.140m, Length over striker castings 11.270m, Wagon spacing between striker castings 800mm, Length over pusher pads 11.094m, Length between bogie pivot centres 8.310m, Height 3.493m, Width 3.000m, Tare (average) 20,250kg, Load 84,000kg (coal) or 84,000kg (maximum), Capacity 85.66m3. |
