Reading still with us |
Description: |
The pushers on this PYRP have made the tunnel, with the trailing unit showing that the Reading may be gone, but not forgotten. This is one of the GP 39-2s conveyed at Conrail startup, still in its original colors. |

Pushing it in |
Description: |
PYRPs helpers push the train right into the tunnel before cutting off. The signal guards the tunnel entrance, which has a door on it to keep out the elements during bad weather. It helps prevent icing in the tunnel. |

NYSW traditionally had numbered their MU equipped units with even numbers. This one SD 45 was the exception, numbered 6361. Here it leads MEBU at the south end of Bevier St |

MEBU in the corn |
Description: |
This field in Owego was a favorite vantage point. There was a good, open view of the tracks, and the crops changed periodically, so it was always a new view from season to season, and year to year. Heres MEBU with a pair of GEs bracketing one of NRLs F 45s. How about that Rio Grande auto rack head out?? |

Fields of gold |
Description: |
The time between when the corn went brown til the first snow could have some wonderful light, especially late in the day, when it made all the corn and grasses take on this golden hue. MEBU rolls west between Chemung and Wellsburg past one of those cornfields. Scenes like this made it a joy to chase in the Southern Tier, despite the lack of density compared to the Chicago Line or the ex PRR. |

Pusher set |
Description: |
An NYSW and NRL lease unit roll into East Binghamton after pushing a train up to Belden tunnel. The signal, deactivated long ago, once controlled the DLW main that passed on the outside of the yard. Now those tracks are used as running tracks, and for outbound trains awaiting power. |

No its not Billings |
Description: |
Despite the two BN painted units. About this time, a lot of BN SD 45s came off lease/were sold by BN, and wound up all over America on lease fleets and regionals. NYSW, aside from having a fleet of its own ex BN power, also leased a number of these units while running the D&H. We see two at East Binghamton |
