Bison Yard - 4 of 23 |
Description: |
Ex-Pennsy FP7A - pretty rare for this part of the system - but in the first few months of Conrail, a lot of stuff went everywhere. |

PRR 9840, EFP-15, 1961 |
Description: |
Horseshoe Curve-1961. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 17 August 1961. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #9840 and #9510-B. Both were built by EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9840 is an EFP-15 built in 1952, but #9510-B is an EF-15 built in 1948. They are pulling a westbound string of empty hopper cars around the Horseshoe Curve and are passing another train on the outermost track. Wave to the fireman! |
