IC SW9 1244Illinois Central (Gulf) SW9 1244 was stopped at the south end of Baton Rouge Yard, and that's the Louisiana state capitol behind the cab. The locomotiIe was built in June 1951 as IC 9446, was renumbered 446 so that the 9400-series could be used for GP18's, and then renumbered 1244 when it was equipped for multiple-unit operation. It was rebuilt as ICG SW14 1449 the year after this photo was taken. |
