PC 4301, E8A, 1968
Title:  PC 4301, E8A, 1968
Description:  Lorenz. Here is a photo via Bob Lorenz that was taken at the Passenger Station in Crestline, Ohio, in 1968. Shown here is Penn Central engine #4301, an E8A built by GM-EMD for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "5801" in June of 1952, rated at 2,250 horsepower, and renumbered "4301" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. Looks to me like there are more Train Crew members here than there are passengers! (Gift from Brad Mann.)

Shown here are PRR engines #5789, #5801, #5844-B, and #5889. All were built by EMD. #5789, #5801, and #5889 are EP-22's rated at 2,250 horsepower each; #5789 and #5801 were built in 1952, but #5889 was built in 1950. #5844-B is an EP-20 built in 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. They are pulling a 38-car westbound mail/express train with "Railway Express" N-5 caboose #5031. Photo taken from the Riggle's Gap Bridge.
