AMTK 288 (ex-PC E8A) With the Illinois Zephyr, Arriving (Pushing In) Union Station |
Description: |
RailThunder commented: #288 was also unique in that it had HEP generators and no boilers or steam heat equipment. Check out that box on the rear of the unit behind the last fans. |

PRR 5710, EP-22, 1960 |
Description: |
Volkmer. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by William D. Volkmer that was taken in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on 15 January 1960. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5710, an EP-22 built by GM-EMD in September of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. The paint's so fresh it's almost tacky! |

PRR 5761, EP-22, 1961 |
Description: |
Harrisburg-1961. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on 23 August 1961. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #5761 and #5710. Both are EP-22's built by EMD in 1952 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. They have just departed the Harrisburg Station with a Baltimore- and Washington-bound passenger train, and are about to cross the Susquehanna River via the Cumberland Valley Railroad Bridge near downtown Harrisburg. One of Harrisburg's hospitals is partially visible on the left. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.) |
