Description:  Delivered to Illinois Central as GP9 9177 in January 1956 then rebuilt by IC as GP10 8177, to Illinois Central Gulf 8177, until being sold to MidSouth becoming MSRC 1036. When KCS purchased MidSouth this Geep became KCS 1906 until being demoted to B unit status in dedicated MOW service receiving a yellow dip job, blanked out cab windows, remote control equipment, and a new number, now KCS 906.

Description:  Amid a cloud of exhaust smoke and dead kudzu, MidSouth Rail's JACKSON TURN emerges from the short tunnel under Washington Street as it climbs the steep grade up from the Vicksburg yard. The train has GP10's 1036 and 1037, GP9 9004, and GP10's 1001 and 1049 with 88 cars. The tunnel was built by the Alabama & Vicksburg in 1897.

Description:  Originally built by EMD in January of 1956 as IC GP9 9177, it was rebuilt by the IC's own Paducah Kentucky Shops in 1970 and renumbered IC GP10 #9177. It was sold to the Midsouth Rail and renumbered MSRC #1036. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo so approximates were used.
