Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad FT 153C westbound at Naperville, Illinois on November 7, 1963, photograph by Chu k Zeiler. This locomotive was built in February 1944 (c/n 2112) on EMD Order E561A as CB&Q FT 102A, the lead cab of locomotive 102, an A-B-B-A set of FT's. When EMD introduced the model F2, the Burlington broke up several sets of FT's, and mated an FT A-B pair with an F2 cab, and renumfered the set, in this case, the FT A-B-F2 set was numbered 153. For maintenance purposes, the FT cab was sub-lettered 153C, although the suffix letter was only visible in one inch lettering below the word BURLINGTON on the side panels. Sometime during June, 1964 this locomitive set was traded to EMD as credit on an order of GP35's. |
