Holcim Switcher Awaiting its Fate |
| Description: |
The Holcim Company closed its Clarksville MO plant (at a siding cflled Dundee for years by the railroad, based on the original cement company's name-even if the town with that place name is south of the Missouri River in Franklin County), The plant had at least three switchers; an SW1, GNAX1, is now in Colorado and a centercab GE seems to be missing. The newer EMD switcher still sits in the plant awaiting>its fate with no number or reporting marks visible.It's supposed to be the'former Waterloo RR no2, an SW900 buillt in 1957 that reportedly arrived here in 1983. It's receiqed a new prime mover along the way- presumably a Cummins of some variety. |

Sitting north of Clarksville, Mo. in the area know as Dundee on the BNSF Hannibal Sub. is the old Holcim Concrete Plant and one of their switchers. From some research from other railfans and other photos of this unit it once belonged to the Waterloo RR and was No. 2. This old switcher has been sitting here near the BNSF Main line for little while now but no word on its fate or for the plant. Since there are no reporting marks on this unit its really hard to tag it on here, sorry for any confusion. |

The locomotive came from GE Plastics in Selkirk to the RSR most likely via.CSX and then got put on this RSR spurr that is being leased by GATX to repair this locomotive and possibly send it off to Titan rail. I've heard rumors about this going to AMP in Dansville, however that is up in the air. It has been here since February. |
