CS 2-8-0ng #75 - Colorado & Southern |
Description: |
This narrow gauge 2-8-0 Consolidation, CS #75, was built by the Brooks Locomotive Works in June of 1898 as Colorado & NorthWestern #31. It then went to the Denver, Boulder & Western as their #31. The loco (and its sister 32) were sold to the Morse Brothers Machinery & Supply Co who then sold them to C&S as CS #75. Eventually the loco was sold to Cerro de Pasco Copper Co of Lima, Peru in 1948 and served there unti the mid-1960's. Specs - serial #2969, class B-4-F-pv, Ridgway Stack (long pipe that took the smoke and cinders down to the trackside.). Harold Vollrath photo |

Wood. Here is a photo taken by Don Wood. It was published originally in the December 1959 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 24. Photo Caption: "A Pennsy 2-8-2, No. 1627, Class L-1,-has just crossed Susquehanna River on way from Harrisburg to Enola (December, 1955)." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #1627, an @-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during September of 1915 and retired in December of 1955 after 40 years of faithful service. |
