PRR 6011, EF-25A, 1965
Title:  PRR 6011, EF-25A, 1965
Description:  Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here (F to R) are PRR engines #6011 and #6010. Both are EF-25A's built by EMD in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. They are pulling a westbound ore train which is about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge on its way up to the Horseshoe Curve, the tunnels at Gallitzin, and the steel mills of Pittsburgh.

Note the two coal trains on the left, then the westbound freight on the right, and a single passenger-helper locomotive a bit further over.

CR 6010 takes NY74 south
Title:  CR 6010 takes NY74 south
Description:  Patched Penn Central SD35 and SD40 with the daily merchandise NY-74 -- a holdover from Erie Lackawanna days, this was a Chicago to New York run that is here less than 30 minutes away from the end of its long journey to Croxton Yard. SD35 6010 was a Pennsylvania Railroad unit (called an EF25a there) delivered in 1965. CR's SD35s didn't fair well and were mostly gone by 1985.
