On the Corridor
Title:  On the Corridor
Description:  At CR startup, Amtrak got the Corridor, and CR was a tenant. Ultimately, this moved freight off the corridor to a large degree, as Amtrak raised the wheelage rates to a point that was not economical. There was still a fair amount of local traffic, which was served from a variety of yards. This is one of the locals, with a U23B and U30B working south of Newark Penn Station. McCarter Highway is the bridge at left. Note the EL box at right.

Description:  Rebuilt in 8/1978 from ex-CR 6873, exx-PC 6873 (exxx-PRR Alco RSD-12 6873, nee-PRR 8673). it became CR MT6 #1101 (MT6 = Motor Trailer 6-axle). The slug eventually became NS 1101. Specs - 58' 13/4" length, 40" wheels, tractive effort of 158,000 lb, no horn, bell or parking brake. No photographer was listed for the photo.
