Description: |
Privately owned ex-B&O RDC on display next to the entrance to the Hobo Railroad. This unit along with some former NH RDCs were recently moved here by their owner from the Danbury Railway Museum for contract work. The RDC has been painted in a stylish but inaccurate B&O paint scheme. |

CB&Q E7 9933B |
Description: |
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad E7 9933B westbound at Naperville, Illinois on April 28, 1965, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Built in March 1949 (c/n 6505), this locomotive became BN 9915 on March 2, 1970 and was sold for scrap on November 4, 1970. I've marked the slide that this was Train Number 17, the California Zephyr. Generally speaking, the CZ did not have this much head end equipment, usually just a single stainless steel baggage car, so I assume the heavyweight baggage cars is a special move of some sort. |

B&O RDC2 9940 |
Description: |
B&O RDC2 9940 at Washington DC on an unknown day in May 1979, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Originally numbered 1960, this was one of two RDC2's built for the B&O's Speedliner Service, containing a 17 foot baggage section, a 17 foot kitchen, 24-seat 6-table dining section, and 24 coach seats, the only such RDC2 configuration built by Budd. The Daylight Speedliner, Trains #21 and #22, generally two RDC1's and one RDC2, began October 28, 1956 between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia until 1958, then between Pittsburgh and Baltimore and ended January 19, 1963, and the RDC's were transferred to commuter service. |

B&O 9940 |
Description: |
My friend Esther has a "thing" for passenger trains in general and RDC cars in particular, as is evident in this picture of the B&O 9940 smoking toward Washington Union Station in the summer of 1987. Those B&O plaques are hopefully in some museum now. |
