Description:  Byerly. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly that was taken in Cincinnati, Ohio, c. 1967. The photographer is not identified. Photo Caption: "Alco RS-3 #5456, 1600-hp, at Cincinnati, O." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5456, an AS-16M road switcher built by the American Locomotive Company as number "8456" in June of 1952, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and renumbered "5456" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (819-34).

Both are AS-16M road switchers built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,600 horsepower each. #8456 was constructed in June of 1952.
