Description:  Everyday. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Robert Yanosey that was taken in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, during August of 1978. Shown here (L to R) are Conrail engine #6865 and a Lackawanna Railroad "Geep" whose number is not recorded. #6865 is an RSD12 built by the American Locomotive Company as PRR engine number "8665" in February of 1958, renumbered "6865" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger, and then acquired by Conrail. They're poised to pull a mixed-cargo freight train out of the Hollidaysburg Yards.

All are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8664 and #8665 were built in February, while #8675 was built in March. They're on their way back to East Altoona after completing another helper/pusher run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and back. Description:  Derailment. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 21 May 1965. Shown here at the far left (L to R) are PRR engines #8676 and #8665. Both are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. They have just arrived to serve as "helpers" for an westbound passenger train due to arrive shortly. Visible in the center is PRR engine #8677, an AS-18AM built by the American Locomotive Company in 1958 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. It is coupled to the "eastern" work train and steam-powered crane that are rerailing the derailed cars and locomotives of the eastbound freight train on the next track over. Visible on the right (L to R) are the two derailed locomotives, PRR engines #5631 and #8890. Both were built by the American Locomotive Company in 1950 and rated at 1,000 horsepower each. #5631 is an AS-10AM while #8890 is an AS-10. Visible in the background are four of the original PRR 12th Street Car Shop buildings. A small portion of 10th Avenue is visible in the immediate foreground. (#14 of 14)

Description:  Malinowski. Here is duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Robert R. Malinoski that was taken just West of the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 5 June 1965. Shown here are eight diesel-electric locomotives climbing the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a Pennsylvania Railroad mail and express train bound for Pittsburgh and points West. In the lead are helper engines #8679, #8665, and three more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are AS-18AM's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8679 was constructed in April of 1958, while #8665 was built in February of the same year. Behind them are three unidentified units of the "EP" Class built by GM-EMD. It must have been an exceedingly-heavy train! ("PrrFan18n")
