Looking back from CSX 1703 you can see the rail train crossing the SAL

David T Moore	General	Official company roster books (Condensed Roster of Locomotives) list this 1600 hp rebuild as a GP16. Family Lines book dated 2/1/1982, SBD book dated 7/1/1983 and CSX (SBD/Chessie System) book dated 11/1/1985. I realize this is not a Uceta GP16 however, evidence shows the railroad itself lists this as GP16. This is why I have labeled CSX 1703 as a GP16. Yes the 1703 (CRR 4603) was rebuilt by ICG and they may have labeled this locomotive as a GP11, but I went with the CSX designation	6/29/2008 10:56:55 PM

William Grimes	General	I can tell a difference between the IGC GP11 and the CRR GP16 (which this is). You can't tell from this picutre but the evidence in is the short hood. On CRR's GP16 the whole cab is moved foward a few feet giving the it a "short snoot" type nose. You labled this picture right, it is a GP16, and if my discription is confusing just look at the two closely for a while. I hope I have helped Jim Bruce tell the difference.	7/6/2008 4:33:20 PM

Thomas Rousseau	General	This is most definitely a GP16. It started it's life as a GP7 #901 built for the Clinchfield. It's builder's number is 12296. Clinchfield renumbered it #4603. SBD then renumbered it #4603. Then CSXT renumbered it #1703 but kept the Familt Lines paint. It has since gone on to other railroad and last I knew, was still active Northern Plains Railroad.	6/20/2009 10:39:13 PM

willis ford	General	Thankyou for posting this picture of the last trian to roll on this line. I have pictures of this same thing happening in Everret GA in 1986. Sad to see that so many line fell to the scrapers.	6/12/2011 9:59:35 AM

Thomas Rousseau	General	It is not so difficult to say that Jim and William are correct. This is one of 6 units rebuilt by ICG-Paducah shops for CRR. It was labeled a GP11 by ICG but is commonly referred to as a GP16 by SCL, SBD, CSX, and every other railroad that has since owned this locomotive. Let's not confuse the issue. ICG designated GP11, GP16 by all owning railroads.	5/15/2012 9:50:48 PM

Eugene Cain	General	CSX had several of these Rail removal devices....hooked onto the last car of the Rail Train, it went along and literally ripped the Rails up as it moved...then they would stop, and pull quarter mile lengths of Rail up onto the Rail Train, so yes, this is the Train that pulled the rails up, at least here. JJ Johnson	General	I'll start by saying I'm not the best with engine descriptions but a little better with rolling stock. This was a sad day for me as a child living in little Jasper, FL. Not too many days before this I remember an engine and a caboose coming from DuPont heading to Live Oak. They picked up the last gondola in Jasper and proceeded on to the south. I didn't realize until this train in the above picture came through and removed these rails that this was the end of this line. I lived within walking distance of the tracks so every time I heard one of those classic Leslie RS5Ts or any other horn in the inventory I’d run to the crossing gates to wave at the engine and caboose. I realize in Jasper the old the ex ACL crossed the ex Southern there so it wasn’t too bad catching some action. Anyhow, this is a great photo and piece of history I remember it like yesterday. Loaded rail train carrying rail off of CSX AR Line with CSX 1703 & 1983 for power. With this train full of rail the only rail left in place was from O'Brien Fla to Like Oak Fla
