The 1720-class is a do-everything unit for Queensland Rail. Over the years they've pulled commuters, mainline freight, branchline trains and are still found as trailing units on mainline passenger trains as well as used as shunters. 56 of the units were built by Clyde/GM between 1966 and 1970; they carry an EMD 8-645 engine and generate 1000 HP on C-C narrow-gauge trucks. 1732D is shown as the second-unit on the Sunlander as it departs Brisbane. |
