Amtrak E9 434 at about 18th Street in Chicago, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1979, Ektachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Number 434 was built to Union Pacific specifications with a freight-style pilot in April 1956 as Milwaukee Road E9 202A (c/n 21605) and after a few months of service it was renumbered to 32A and the pilot was changed to a passenger-style. Prior to being conveyed to Amtrak sometime after May 1, 1971, it was rebuilt at the West Milwaukee Shops. |
