Sam Davey General how much of this line still has the rails down? 2/12/2006 10:48:57 PM
Allan Love Jr General Wow. 2/12/2006 11:27:30 PM
Ken Roble General The Central Midland RR (formerly Missouri Central) a Indiana RR subsidary according to the US Traffic Atlas by Harry Ladd has purchased this whole route but only operates it from St.Louis to Union, MO. Will they ever rebuild and operate this balance of the line to Kansas City is anyone's guess. This line was sold to the Cotton Belt along with the Golden State Route after the Rock's demise. But the Cotton Belt never operated this line as a thru route. Actually never operated it at all except from St.Louis to Union. The balance of the line has never seen a train since 1980. Instead SSW went to St.Louis via trackage rights on MP. The old RI main was in sad shape. Why they bought it, who knows? 2/12/2006 11:40:44 PM
Zachary Gillihan General Central Midland still only runs to Union and about 2 trains a week, the track is so bad after Union im sure its not worth fixing. 2/13/2006 11:17:21 PM
Pat Scott General SSW bought the line previous to their trackage rights on the UP. After they got these trackage rights, they scrapped the idea of rehabilitating this line. Also, the SSW did indeed run west of Union. Until the early 1990s they ran to Owensville, and in the 1980s for some time they ran to Belle, MO. The current operator is Central Midland Railway, not RR. 4/21/2006 7:26:40 AM
Pat Scott General Also, this line is not abandoned. It's unused, but has never been abandonded. 5/28/2006 8:01:55 AM
Neil Stutzman General Isn't this the rock line that was embargoed? 1/8/2007 6:26:04 PM
Robert Brian McFarland General A weed whacker and a couple of spikes and this could be right back in service! :-D 11/23/2007 12:46:21 AM
