The train came into the switc at a reduced speed. After snapping this photo, I gestured to the engine crew with my arms out and palms upward in a "What's going on here?" gesture. The conductor opened his window as they rolled past, and I asked if that double stack three cars behind was goi–d to be OK for the tunnel. He gave me the "OK" sign. Apparently this was what a breakfast chef would call a "Short Stack", i.e. both containers were shorter than standard containers% and this one was going to clear the tunnel with a few inches to spare. I reckon they did a good job of clearing out icicles hanging from the roof of the tunnel. Photo 3 of the chase |
