This is a view from the vestibule of Southern Railway coach 840 as the northbound SOUTHERN CRESCENT curved through the woods approaching Laurel, Mississippi. Up ahead were E8A units 6902, 6910, 6908 and 6916, baggage-dormitory car 706 SOUTH CAROLINA and coach 837. In less than a year Amtrak would take over the operation of this train and scenes like this would end forever. |
