Randy Chassereau General Thanks for posting this photo. I've photographed around the Yemassee area since the 1970s. It's good to see other contributor's photos from this area. I believe this is the local freight that ran between Augusta and Port Royal heading back to Augusta, Ga. I think the curved rail line in the foreground allowed trains to turn on to what is now the CSX A line and head to Charleston. I believe the track the cab is on was removed when the line to Port Royal was removed at Yemassee. Any comments from others? 11/13/2015 9:48:41 AM
Bryan Russell General Randy, you are right, the train is on the (now abandoned) line from Port Royal. To the left of the caboose is the diamond across the A line, and the line in the foreground is the connection track to the A line heading towards Charleston. 1/9/2020 11:07:56 PM
