| Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad steam fan trip flyer, July 5, 1964, Chuck Zeiler collection. This flyer featured the new NE13a waycars (caboose) that could be chartered. Original document size is 9 X 19½ inches. I was aboard one of those charters. Unfortunately, these trips became so common (one every weekend) that I didn't even both to bring a camera. I was with a group of punk teenagers that chartered a waycar and we trashed it. The Q was likely shocked that most of us hung out on the platforms for most of the trip. They started putting safety officers on the trips thereafter. |
