PRR 8663, AS-18AM, 1960
Good Day. Here is an original photo that I took in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, 25 July 1960. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #8663, #8657, and #8675. All are AS-18AM road switchers built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 1,800 horsepower each. #8663 and #8675 were constructed in 1958, but #8657 was built in 1957. From here, they'll pass WYE Tower and climb the Allegheny Mountains via the Muleshoe Curve to Gallitzin, where they'll be uncoupled and returned to East Altoona for further assignments. This photo was taken at the Juniata River Railroad Bridge, near Bedford Street and the Passenger Station. #12 of 12.
