Three of the New Orleans Public Belt's six new SW1000's - 102, 105 and 106 - were at the railroad's Claiborne Substation, next to Claiborne Yard. The units had been built in July and August. Engines were based here for about 25 years (1955-1980) to serve customers along the Industrial Canal. (approximate day) |
