A transfer run from the Southern Pacific’s AVONDALE YARD to the Louisville & Nashville’s GENTILLY YARD was at Louisa Street on the east side of New Orleans as it approached the L&N yard. The train was powered by L&N GP30 1043, SP C630 units 3140, 3146 and 3142, SP GP9R 3341 and L&N GP40 3004. Those big Alcos disappeared from here about a year later and went into storage, then were sold for scrap in 1979. |
