Not sure why these two double heading narrow gauge Denver & Rio Grande Western Mikados have stopped at this unknown location, but it appears the crew members will be discussing something. DRGW #473 was built by Alco-Schenectady in September of 1923 (serial #64984) while DRGW 486 was built by Baldwin in 1925 (serial # 58587). After retirement, both eventually ended up on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge RR although #486 had a layover as a display piece for awhile in the Royal Gorge Park. No exact date, location or photographer was given but it appears that it was taken in the early 1950's. |
